Eco Tours

Eco tours or ecological tourism is an approach to cover tourist activities in which certain things are highlighted such as sustainability, preservation and appreciation of the natural and cultural surroundings. Eventhough there are different interpretations, it is more known that ecological tourism is promoted as “ethical” tourism because its main objective is to provide welfare to the local towns. The outcome is seen in the structure and operation of companies/groups/cooperative organizations that devote themselves to such a service.

Due to its importance, eco tours have become the fastest growing and most dynamic field inside the world-wide tourist maket. This tendency started at the end of the 80s and has attracted international interest so much that the UN dedicated the whole year 2002 to ecological tourism.
