Manu Park 5 Days / 4 Nights
AIRCRAFT DEPARTURES FRIDAYS AND TUESDAYS
We will get on a bi-motor aircraft towards Boca Manu. During the trip we will be able to see the Eastern Andes mountains. Once we arrive to Boca Manu we will board a boat to the town of Boca Manu and then go to the camp inside the Reserved Zone. We will stop at Limonal, a check point. After dusk we will spend the night in a lodge located at the entrance of the tourist zone within the Reserve and will have the chance to do a night walk.
The second day we will sail the Manu River towards the Caiman Camp. We will take a walk and see the Limonal check point, where we will begin the walk inside the Reserve. During the trip we will see toucans, parrots, some mammals, many tortoises, alligators and, if we get lucky, the jaguar.
We will start the day very early to begin a 3-4 hour walk aling the right side of the Manu River towards Otorongo lagoon. Here we will climb onto a watching tower located 15 meters up. From this place we will be able to observe the monkeys while they feed themselves, birds, and many species of flowers and colorful butterflies. Later we will return to the camp by canoe and will enjoy lunch. In the afternoon we will visit the surrounding areas at Salvador lagoon and then we will silently sail the lagoon in an oar catamarán to watch the different species that live there such as the giant otters, black alligator, white alligator, etc.
In our fourth day we will do a small walking tour to listen to the bird choir (birds delimit their territory this way). Later we will be able to see the falcon and other predator birds on top of the trees. Next we will go to Boca Manu in a canoe to visit the Matchiguengas and Yines native ethnic villages. We will try to participate in their daily activities.
The next morning we will go to Boca Manu aerodrome to get on an aircraft to Cuzco.
